Teaching orthography to allophone adults is the source of specific problems to which the knowledge of grammatical rules applied to exercises gives no satisfactory answer. These persons have a competence of their own language and the question is how to let them acquire new automatisms. The progression put forward is:
1. Identification of the deviations from the rules by means of a diagram which helps to draw an orthographic profile.
2. Orthographical profile.
3. Remedying, taking into account linguistic considerations and the competence of the person.
4. Pedagogical processes based on analogy and substitution.
5. Positive evaluation.
