Abstract

As a result of the revolutionary moves of recent decades that have challenged special education, more and more people with disabilities are expected to take control of their own lives and to play an active role in the lif e of the community. These behaviours involve complex and multiple skills, such as, for example, the ability to express oneself clearly, to argue one's opinions, to listen and to question oneself, to manage differences of opinion. These are important communication skills that require special educational attention, especially when the learner is confronted with cognitive and/or communication difficulties. This article presents research with very promising results that provide suggestions on how this work can be best supported on a daily basis.
