Research has shown that 90% of children with complex communication needs (CCN) reach adulthood without functional skills in literacy. The intervention program presented in this article to help children with CCN to acquire these skills and common vocabulary through AAC. In this program, children books are read, repeatedly, to young children with CCN by using different modes of communication (wri tten words that are read aloud, gestures, pictograms and an application with speech output on a tablet). Each reading session was designed to allow specific and progressive learning processes. The child can use the code(s) corresponding to his/her needs and abilities, which promotes interactions based on the book.Téléchargements
