Résumé

Parental cognition about child’s development and education consists in a recent area of psychological study. Several authors are now interested in how parents understand their child’s personality, development and education when developmental disease are notified. Significant differences have been shown in comparative studies with parents of normally-developing children. Results suggest that a developmental disease could change the belief-childrearing behaviour system in parents. In this way, the notification of early developmental disease is here conceptualized as a transformative experience in the parental development sequence. Such a body of researches provides an important contribution to clinical aspects of parental counselling. Specific interventions are now proposed to parents of disabled children but not sufficiently generalized among professionals.
